10 Weirdest Missions in Borderlands 4

Gearbox has never shied away from adding weird characters and missions in their games. For instance, Borderlands 2 had a mission where your only goal was to shoot a guy named Face McShooty in the face.

The developers rely on weird and unhinged comedy to help them sell the worlds they create, and Kairos is a rather interesting world with some interesting inhabitants that require your aid.

You might be tasked with proving that the world is flat, or maybe you need to go on a treasure hunt. No matter what though, you will be asked to perform some rather odd tasks in Borderlands 4.

10 Ready to Blow

Help This Missile Out

Out in the Fadefields, you can find a missile that didn’t explode when it hit the ground. The missile’s name is Gigi, and she just wants to see if she can explode, as that is her purpose in life.

As you collect parts to rebuild the missile to place Gigi’s core into, she confides in you that she wishes to never be a dud. Through the mission, your vault hunter consoles Gigi, giving her hope that she may explode just like she wants.

In the end, you rebuild the rocket, fire it off into the distance, and let Gigi discover her one true purpose in life. It’s a weird mission to be sure, but a strangely hope-filled one that can touch the heart.

9 Flat Kairoser

Proving the World is Flat

Have you ever taken a moment to think that the world might be flat? Well, there are many who have thought that, and many who still do, and Gearbox acknowledges that with the Flat Kairoser mission.

During this mission, you meet a guy named Skeptical Sam. He happens to be standing next to a vehicle with signs that read, “Kairos is flat,” and has a rather unique appearance.

Throughout the mission, you perform some interesting tasks to try and prove that Kairos is flat and not round like everyone else thinks. For instance, you smash a globe, and you travel to a shrine to see the “curvature” of Kairos. You are then required to prove that Kairos isn’t flat to completely debunk everything Sam believes.

8 Potty Mouth

The Talking Toilet

Have you ever received a mission from a toilet with a sentient AI placed inside it? No? Well, you are about to, as that is what happens in the Potty Mouth mission in Borderlands 4.

GenIVIV from Borderlands 3 has made a return, and her AI has been placed inside of a toilet. She asks you to deal with miscreants around Carcadia Burn who mistreat her.

Once you talk to the mayor, however, you find out that GenIVIV has been a pain in the butt for everyone in the literal sense. After this, you must call upon ClapTrap with the Clap Signal and try to find a new body for GenIVIV. It is a hilariously strange quest with quite a few twists and turns.

7 The Power Ballad of Rodd Vomit

Finding A New Lead Singer

Legendary singer Rodd Vomit, who you have obviously heard of, didn’t survive his crash landing onto Kairos. Therefore, the band Thrum Dumpster needs a new lead singer, and Lisa FullFolja needs you to track down some potential candidates.

You need to travel across Carcadia Burn to find a few different singers, attach Digi-Dongles to them, and then return to The Couch Hole. It’s a relatively straightforward mission, but it culminates in a musical mosh pit that makes it rather strange.

The band turns hostile, and you need to deal with it. It’s okay though, because Lisa reveals that was the plan all along, and that it was all done for clout.

6 No-Escape Room

Poorly Designed

You’ve heard of escape rooms before, but you’ve probably never experienced a no-escape room. It is a room that is designed to kill you if you get the answers wrong, and you need to help test it out.

You find the No-Escape Room mission in the Terminus District of Dominion, and it is a rather bizarre experience. Once you enter, the Smiley Man will have you attempt to complete the different rooms.

Of course, you can complete them the normal way, or you can cheat your way to victory. Along the way, you need to guess the correct door, go through a maze, and place symbols in order. All of this is done while a madman is talking to you.

5 Wayward Gun

Gotta Get Ahold of Them All

Borderlands 4 has plenty of references to pop culture, and the Wayward Gun mission is one of them. It is also a bizarre quest that has you interacting with guns in a way you might not expect.

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to play Pokémon in Borderlands, then this mission is for you. After a group of Tediore weapons get loose, you are tasked with catching them all in storage containers.

You are given containers to throw like PokéBalls, and there is even a version of Team Rocket that appears to try and stop you. It is a surreal experience, but one that definitely stands out among the other missions in the game.

4 Crack This Guy’s Back

Crack His Back Already

Do you remember Face McShooty in Borderlands 2? He was the guy that you need to shoot in the face. Well, there is a reference to this mission in Borderlands 4, and it is rather weird. Instead of shooting a guy, you crack a guy’s back.

In Terminus Range, you can come across a man named Crack McBacky, and you need to crack his back as the name of the mission implies. However, the crick in his back is rather persistent, and won’t be dealt with easily.

Throughout the mission, you need to consistently melee his back. Just when you think he has received the relief he wants, you need to crack it again. This keeps going until you jump off a literal cliff and slam his back.

3 The Next Quest Thing

Seeking Spiritual Enlightenment

Have you ever thought that maybe your calling in life was to help others receive spiritual enlightenment? Well, that is what you are trying out in the Next Quest Thing mission in Borderlands 4.

A Wayward Soul wants you to help give them spiritual guidance. Of course, you are not a guru of any sort, so you will need to improvise. During the mission, you make up a lot of different tasks for the Wayward Soul to complete to give him spiritual enlightenment.

He wants balance, so you balance a trash can lid on his head. At a certain point, the guy even tries to be friends with a Ripper.

2 Imminent Jest

Time For Practical Jokes

Sure, murder, mayhem, and chaos are all fun, but they get stale after a while. Sometimes, you need to find something else to do on Kairos, so why not try out some practical jokes?

That is the premise of the Imminent Jest mission, as you are recruited to help a Ripper perform some little pranks. Jankus wants to prank Crankus, so you shoot a pipe to get ooze all over Crankus.

Of course, now it is Crankus’ turn to prank Jankus … by setting him on fire. These harmless pranks don’t turn out to be so harmless, but it is a weird quest that takes a bit of a break from the nonstop violence of Borderlands 4, making it memorable and strange.

1 Breeding Daisies

Comes With Mood Music

At a certain point in your travels around Kairos, you may come across a man surrounded by Threshers. This man is named Mort, and he has a desire to breed some Threshers, and you need to help him out with this strange request.

First, you are tasked with collecting a few Thresher eggs. This isn’t the weird part. The weird part comes when you get back to Mort’s shack and see that it is covered in hearts. It even has a sign that reads, “Hump hut.”

After delivering the eggs, he hatches one, calls the Thresher Daisy, and then proceeds to tell you to help her attract a mate. From here on out, it is weird, there is mood music involved, and plenty of pulsating tentacles. Gearbox got weird with this one.
