Desecrated Deck @ SteamNextFest

The event runs from October 19–26, 2026, and the demo of Desecrated Deck will be available to play during the festival.

For those who haven't heard about the game yet, Desecrated Deck is a first-person psychological horror card game built around a twisted version of Rock Paper Scissors. You play against a mysterious spirit, trying to reach three points before it does. Sounds simple enough — until the cards come into play.

Rock, Paper, Scissors... and something much worse

During a match, you and the spirit have access to Item Cards that can completely change what happens next. Some can help you survive, some can hurt your opponent, and others might put you in an even worse situation.

There are also Perk Cards with effects that can interfere with the normal rules of the game. Learning when to use your cards — and when to save them — becomes increasingly important as the match goes on.

You only have four lives, so a bad decision can get expensive very quickly.

And the cards aren't the only thing you need to worry about.

Desecrated Deck takes place in a dark, unsettling environment that reacts to what's happening during the game. Strange events can occur around you, and not everything you see is necessarily part of the match.

For fans of Inscryption and Buckshot Roulette

If you enjoyed the uneasy card-game atmosphere of Inscryption or the deadly mind games of Buckshot Roulette, Desecrated Deck might be worth keeping an eye on.

Those games were a big part of showing just how well simple tabletop-style mechanics can work together with horror. Desecrated Deck takes that idea in its own direction, combining Rock Paper Scissors, Item and Perk Cards, limited lives and an unpredictable supernatural opponent.

The goal isn't to recreate either game, but to capture that same feeling of sitting down to play something that seems simple at first — and slowly realizing that you're involved in something much darker.

Play the demo during Steam Next Fest

I've been working hard on getting the demo ready for October, and Steam Next Fest will be the first big opportunity for a lot of players to experience Desecrated Deck for themselves.

The demo will give you a proper look at the core gameplay, the card mechanics and, most importantly, the atmosphere I'm trying to create with the game.

Steam Next Fest begins on October 19 and runs until October 26, 2026.
